Matthew Anklan is an in-demand trumpet artist from Cincinnati, Ohio, who has performed and recorded with many notable artists and groups, including Tito Puente, Jr., Bootsy Collins, Jeff Hamilton, Gerald Wilson, The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Famous Blue Wisp Big Band, Bob Beldon, Fred Hersch, Carnival Cruise Lines and many more. Equally at home in any genre of music, Matthew maintains a very active performance schedule, playing with Leroy Ellington and the E-Funk Band, the Cincy Brass, the Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, and many others.

Matthew also leads his own groups which include a big band, jazz quartet, and a brass quintet. In addition to an active performance career, Matthew teaches Jazz Trumpet and Music Business at Xavier University, in Cincinnati. Matthew’s trumpet students have the opportunity for a diverse educational experience that will prepare them to play or teach in any genre.

Matthew earned his Bachelor of Music at the College Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati. A Jazz Studies Master of Music degree is in progress.
