As a soloist on a perpetual quest for new music, Brittany Hendricks is dedicated to the promotion of works that challenge the expressive boundaries of her instrument, and to performances that celebrate its role as a part of Western cultural heritage.
Appointed in 2013 as Assistant Professor of Music Performance (Trumpet) at Ball State University, Dr. Hendricks has appeared as a guest artist or featured presenter at numerous schools and conferences, most notably Northern Illinois University, Baylor University, the University of Missouri–Kansas City, the University of Alabama, the International Women’s Brass Conference (2014), the College Band Directors National Association North Central Division Conference (2014), the Society of Composers, Inc. National Conference (2014), and the Indiana Music Educators Association Professional Development Conference (2015). In 2012, she was invited to give the world premiere of Jim Stephenson’s L’esprit de la trompette at the 2012 Grand Valley State University International Trumpet Seminar in Grand Rapids, Michigan, which has since become a staple in her repertoire.
In addition to her work as a soloist, Dr. Hendricks performs as principal trumpet with the Muncie Symphony Orchestra and with the Da Camera Brass Quintet. She holds degrees from Northwestern University (B.M., 2007), Arizona State University (M.M., 2009), and The University of Alabama (D.M.A., 2013) and has studied under Eric Yates, David Hickman, Barbara Butler, Charles Geyer, Richard Giangiulio, and Christopher Martin.
